the fiction we live

Regardless of the medium, I want to make your message beautiful.

I’m Ayva. I used to be Kimberly, but somewhere along my journey I took that giant leap to be the-artist-formerly-known-as. I have an HBa in Media, Information & Technoculture and a Master of Arts in Journalism under my belt, both from the University of Western Ontario. I’ve got a serious addiction to reading, collecting, and producing media of all types. Over the last decade, my husband and I have rebuilt an old farmhouse outside Toronto where we live with our young son and our small pack of great danes. We are small-scale farmers and homesteaders who, through our actions, hope to support the growth of sustainable and, ideally, regenerative living. We want to leave the earth better than we found it.

I’m also both a SUP and dryland yoga teacher who can never believe how lucky she is to have shared her practice with so many amazing students! Though I am currently on a bit of a baby-induced hiatus, in my normal life I teach a variety of classes, all with a focus on integrity and alignment, and have always been hooked on the practice of yin yoga. Read more about what happens on my mat.

Away from my mat and my tablet, you’ll find me chasing my toddler Oliver Snow (and soon his little sister!), growing food, paddling, or hiking with my dogs. Take a peek below at what brought me here. (You’ll notice that much of my past work is credited to me in some variation of Kimberly Dawn Fisher. Don’t be alarmed. All me. Just an earlier version!)

I am a writer, designer, photographer and yoga teacher with the skills and passion to get any publishing project off the ground. I strive to be joyful and creative and invested in the health of my community, both on and off the mat. I also bake a kick-ass vegan cookie.
